I hope to re-examine the question of what a Quaker perspective on Mental Health might mean in the 21st Century by looking at delivery of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder at The Retreat.

About Leo Barnard
(United Kingdom)
I propose to use qualitative research methods to explore with psychiatrists, psychotherapists and service-users their perspectives on this diagnosis and their expectations and experiences of the programme. I anticipate drawing heavily upon Critical Theory since there is a current debate involving Critical Psychiatry, Critical Psychology and Critical Psychotherapy. One area which I believe has been under-represented in the research generally is the service-users’ input and I hope to redress this somewhat.
