How is your joy and creativity doing this year? How do we orient to joy – even on a daily basis? Is it possible? How can we support each other in this? Join this gathering to explore the ways that we can cultivate joy in all aspects of our lives.
Perhaps joy is a gift, a grace, as well as something to be cultivated? How could we put ourselves in the way of joy?
Can we be involved in justice and peace-making in a way that contributes to joy – in ourselves and others?
We will gather together fairly experimentally. We’ll include an open space where you will be invited to present any thoughts, images and practices related to this theme. Do include particular texts or parts of poems if you’d like to.
We will include in our considerations: the body, creativity and the practice of social justice.
There is a second session of Orienting to Joy on 9 November. This will complement what we do together in this first session, so participants may choose to attend both, but each can equally be enjoyed as a single, stand-alone session.
Feedback from Susan’s ‘Signposts to Joy’ workshop for Woodbrooke in January 2024:
“Lovely quotes and poems and visual of art work, very inspiring. Lovely gentle pace, and mix of whole group and breakout rooms was perfect.”
“Lovely gently held workshop which was actually presenting something quite radical – the idea that joy is our responsibility, the need to be serious about having joy as a priority.”
On the booking form, there is a chance for you to let us know about any accessibility or communication adjustments that will enable you to participate more fully in the course. Automated Zoom closed captions are available for all live sessions but if you feel you require more accurate closed captioning please email us directly in addition to booking.
